Job Description: Observer to the UUA Board of Trustees

The C*UUYAN Steering Committee is seeking applications for a new C*UUYAN Observer to the UUA Board of Trustees.

Role: The Observer to the Board of Trustees is responsible for reporting on the proceedings of three board (and relevant committee) meetings annually as well as GA. This person is the ears of the young adult community in these meetings and should provide confident analysis and reporting for the benefit of young adults across the continent. This reporting can be done in a number of manners, but ideally would allow for both ‘real-time’ reporting and considered summaries. In addition to reporting the work of the board and the UUA back to the young adult community, one other important role of the observer during the meetings is informal discussion with board members as a representative of the young adult community during breaks and meals, and being a resource and point of contact for board members.

Logistics: The Observer would attend the meetings in Boston on C*UUYAN’s behalf and take notes on issues, discussions and decisions. C*UUYAN will provide a space online for live (or frequent) reporting, perhaps through Twitter or another microblogging system, as well as space within the C*UUYAN website for reports from the Observer. Video reports could also be cool if you have that kind of capacity. Meetings typically run Thursday evening to Sunday afternoon, so the time commitment on those weekends when the meetings are happening is substantial. Time commitment between meetings is minimal and consists primarily of staying current with young adult issues, activities and communities in order to be able to share that information.

Duration: This position is an appointment for a one-year term to August 2010. The position may be renewed once at that point, for a maximum two-year appointment.

Eligibility: Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old (inclusive) for the duration of the term.

Compensation: All positions within C*UUYAN are volunteer positions. However, reimbursement will be provided for travel to Boston (or wherever the meeting is happening) and meal expenses to Boston for the Observer and billets or homestays will be provided if the observer doesn’t have someone they can stay with.

Deadline for applying: Application deadline is August 24th. Click here to apply.
